Adding subtley and dimension, the musical persona of Christopher Thorn weaves in and out of Unified Theory's oscillating, many-textured energy. Whether through the guitar, the lapsteel or the piano, there is both a faith and resilience to Christopher's tones:qualities present in the man himself. These same qualities incidentally acted as a catalyst for the original coming together of Unified Theory. Knowing only his destination and his mission, Christopher left Seattle in the summer of 1998 for Los Angeles in search of a missing link musically; a voice, a vision. It was a mission of faith, of belief that the answer, metaphoriacally speaking, does exist. There in L.A., he met a key part of that answer, Chris Shinn (then of Celia Green) and was immediately inspired that his journey had found the object of its searching. The two musicians travelled back up to Seattle and--along with Brad Smith and Dave Krusen--recorded ''Cessna'' and ''Passive'', the first two sounds out of the collective voice of Unified Theory. From these beginnings, Christopher's accents and melodies have been a glue, a mediator of sorts, between the inspired sounds of ChrisShinn, the soulful bass creations of Brad Smith and the spine work of Dave Krusen's beats. Christopher's strength and beauty comes in the oneness and simplicity of his vision: to create music that he loves with the people he most likes to be with. Such is the constantly renewing voice of Christopher Thorn, acting on faith to continue the perfection of his calling.
